Edinburgh Castle
Scotland's most visited tourist attraction, which is preserved and maintained immaculately. Standing on Castle Rock, the great mound of basalt created by the volcano many moons ago, the castle is situated at the top end of the Royal Mile and can be seen from all over the city. It contains the Scottish Crown Jewels, including the Stone of Scone, which was returned to the city in 1996. The castle is the home of the Scottish National War Museum and provides great views of the city's various districts.
