Greyfriars Bobby
Scottish legend has it that a Skye terrier named Bobby was so saddened by his master's death in 1858 that he stayed at his grave in Greyfriar's Churchyard almost permanently until his own death fourteen years later – my dog can't even be let off the lead in case he buggers off — where've I gone wrong? –. This bronze statue, a symbol of Bobby's loyalty, is within metres of master John Grays' grave. Feeling emotional? Drink to you and your pet's health at the excellent Greyfriar's Bobby pub which is just a sticks throw away.
