Bannermans
You'll have waded through this particular area of Edinburgh numerous times before realising Bannermans exists – after all, it's hidden in an unflattering corner of the dank, decrepit cesspit known as the Cowgate. A shame really, considering it's a pretty decent venue for having drinks, shooting pool, and hearing some semi-decent live music. It's not just local tribute bands or pubescent rock; plenty of genres are covered, and you do occasionally get a few big names playing there too.
