The slogan for this watering hole is 'Princes Street's Number One Bar'. This is a horrible pun on its address, and whoever thought of it should be tarred and feathered. However, of all the gin joints on Edinburgh's main drag, this is certainly one of the best. The sumptuous leather sofas engulf the patrons, while the relaxing music and dim lighting make this a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of New Town. Just don't wear trainers and you'll avoid the embarrassment of politely being asked to leave the premises.
