Black Medicine Coffee Co.
A venue, centrally, for students who like to use their laptops in public, Black Med serves a range of lipsmacking sandwiches and paninis, among them a delicious red pepper and salami number, dangerously spicy for an afternoon. The venue favours unwieldy wooden chairs of gothic proportions, making the eating areas a tad Henry the Eighth, but chunky DFS sofas remedy any lumbar issues. Two friendly hipsters dish out the goodies, courteous and helpful, and little of the website's enforced wackiness spills out into the café's aesthetic. Prices conform to the current economic climate, i.e. rather bulbous, but the nosh won't disappoint. Other branches on Nicolson Street and Barclay Terrace.
