The Mosque
Through an inconspicuous archway on West Nicolson, a bevy of cooks are standing over huge vats of curry and rice, providing lunches to the impoverished students of Edinburgh. Well, to the ones that don't own castles. Open seven days a week, and with meals for well under a fiver, The Mosque Kitchen has become something of a culinary institution. If you can cope with paper plates, plastic cutlery, and all-season al-fresco dining you'll be treated to huge portions and the chance to sample some inimitable 'Mecca Cola'. It'll also be (an albeit tiny) kick in the balls for those corporate folk at Coca-Cola. Hooray.
