Traverse Theatre
Once mocked for its insistence on showcasing 'alternative' (read: bewildering and crap) theatre, the Traverse's reputation has received a considerable boost thanks to the consistently high standard of plays it produces for the Fringe Festival, some of which have even gone on to London's West End. Worth going to if you fancy something that's going to require a bit more thought than Cats ('Oh, that guy in leggings is a cat') or Starlight Express ('Oh, so that guy in roller skates is a train...'), plus there's a fantastic bar to keep you entertained if the show is shite.
