The Belford Hostel

Nestled away in New Town just west of Princes Street, the Belford Hostel is only a deceptively short and quite tolerable walk from most city-centre attactions. Converted from an old church, the setting is naturally quite nice. Expect slightly higher-than average amenities, with clean (and satisfyingly powerful) showers, sanitarily reassuring bedding and linens and a friendly, unusually accommodating staff. Noise can be a problem, as many of the cheaper rooms don't have the best sound insulation. But honestly, if you can't see the humour in being kept awake by rough, loud and possible untraditional sex in an old church then you don't deserve to travel.
