New Town Bar

Having returned after a brief (and ill-informed) incarnation as Twist, the New Town Bar is back in business: home to the slightly longer in the tooth among Edinburgh's gay crowd. Unfortunately the drinks aren't quite as cheap as the new décor and it comes off looking a wee bit IKEA. The club downstairs is open at the weekend and keeps itself consistently and pungently cheesy. Expect events such as 'Bears In The Basement', which, despite acceptable misconceptions, isn't actually a heartwarming tale for ages 3–8.
