The Hive
The Honeycomb bit the dust long ago, but the lamenting howls of clubbers from 'back in the day' still echo around the Cowgate. The Hive, then, had a lot to live up to when it took over in 2007. What you'll find here is a refreshing range of indie, metal and rock which shakes the pitch-black walls and industrial steel bars. Despite a modest capacity, it's surprisingly easy for the simpler among us to get lost in its vaults; and even easier to disappear after spilling that seven-foot metalhead's pint. Fun, cheap and a worthy successor.
