The GRV
While it certainly can't claim to be the cheapest club (cum arts venue) in the Cowgate area, the GRV is of a classier breed altogether. Intimate and artsy, it carves itself out a nice little niche of being trendy and modern without reaching snobbish or inaccessible territory, playing host to some of the more interesting events on offer in Edinburgh. It also holds perhaps the coolest add-on of any club in the city, with its phone booth-sized miniature Avalanche Records stall stocking a concentrated selection of some of the tunes you're likely to hear on a night out here.
